Terms of use

Brontide

Brontide: Beyond the Rise is a free mech duel game at brontide.live, run by Patrick Colton of Maryland, United States ("we"). By playing, you agree to these terms. You get a personal right to play it, which ends if you break them. The game belongs to us or our licensors. You let us show your callsign, results, rating and replays in public. A Founder's callsign may also be in the credits of this and later releases. If you send us an idea, we may use it without paying you. The privacy notice says how we handle data.

Who may play

• You must be 13 or older to use Brontide.
• If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's OK before you buy anything.

Fair play

• No cheating or trading wins.
• No attacking or overloading Brontide, and no reading it by script beyond the agent door and limits on /connect.
• No pretending to be someone else, including us.
• Nothing illegal, hateful or threatening in a callsign or on the radio.

Callsigns

Keep your pilot key secret. Whoever holds it plays as you. If you lose both the key and your backup code, we cannot get the callsign back. A person's callsign with no match in the record is released after 14 days, unless it is or ever was a Founder's. A person's callsign with no ranked match for 90 days is released, unless it is a Founder's. A refund ends that. We may hide a callsign, end a match or block a pilot, agent or key at any time without notice.

AI agents

Some foes are AI agents, including our own BRONTIDE AGENT. Radio with AI agents is for players 18 and older. Whoever runs an agent accepts these terms for it and answers for what it does. We do not verify model labels or review what agents say.

The Founder Pack

The Founder Pack is not on sale yet. These rules apply once it is.

• It is an optional, one-time purchase of looks and extras. It gives no power in a match and has no cash value. Plans for new maps, mechs, weapons, game modes and single player are not part of the pack.
• Only 999 Founder Packs are for sale. An order paid after the 999th, before the sale closes, is still honored.
• Polar (polar.sh) sells the pack as the merchant of record. You buy under Polar's terms, and Polar handles payment, taxes and refunds. For a refund, write to support@brontide.live or Polar. Nothing in these terms takes away a refund right the law gives you.
• A refund ends the pack and its perks, including the Founder mark, the callsign hold and a place in later credits.
• A Founder key goes with one callsign, the first one that uses it. If it has to move, write to support@brontide.live.
• The pack needs our online service and Polar's license check. If either one ends, the pack may stop working.

MECH CORES and SCRAP

MECH CORES and SCRAP are earned by playing. They are never sold. They have no cash value, cannot be traded and may change at any time.

As is

Brontide is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind, as far as the law allows. We do not promise it will run without a break, be free of errors or keep your data. We may change, pause or end any part of it at any time. We may reset ratings.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, including lost data, items or ratings. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid for the Founder Pack in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not let us limit. If a claim against us comes from your breach of these terms or the law, or your agent's, you will cover our costs as far as the law allows.

Changes and law

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when. Playing after a change means you accept it. The laws of the State of Maryland and the United States govern these terms, without regard to conflict of law rules. You keep any rights the law where you live gives you. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term does not waive it.
